Please read carefully the procedures to be followed to enable you to enjoy years of
satisfaction with our products. This guarantee is subject to the following storage, handling & maintenance conditions, and only apply to items manufactured by Discount Wooden Windows :


  1. All windows and doors must be pre-sealed at our factory premises before delivery. This is standard     practice, however if goods are ordered unsealed then a limited 5 year guarantee will apply.

2. After delivery, the items must be resealed with one coat of the following sealers before installation,     either TIMBER LIFE ULTRA CARE GOLD SOLVENT BASE or SILKWOOD SOLVENT BASED if available. All     of above must be shaded sealers which deflect the suns harmful UV rays. NO clear sealers will be     accepted for the initial treatment process.

    The following shaded sealers are available for this purpose: Teak, Mahogany, Dark Brown, Golden     Brown, Spec Brown and Imbuia. After installation the windows and doors must be lightly sanded or     rubbed down with a scotch-brite-pad to remove cement and paint stains and a further two coats of the     recommended sealers must be reapplied.

3. Follow-up treatment must be done yearly and no exception to this rule will be accepted. It is also     recommended that the west and north sides of the building be carefully monitored on a six-monthly     basis and follow-up treatment applied where necessary. A light rubbing with scotch-brite-pad before     follow-up treatment should be sufficient otherwise sanding might be necessary.

4. A copy of the till-slip confirming the date of purchase of specified sealers, if not supplied by us,     together with our company invoice must by accompany each claim.

5. The products must preferably be installed by a certified builder.

6. It is within the sole discretion of the manufacturer to either repair or replace defective products and     no claim may exceed the original invoice amount of the item.

7. Doors should be stored in a cool dry room and never in areas which are subject to extreme     temperature or humidity changes. Shipping containers and corrugated sheds are not acceptable     storage areas.

8. Doors must be stored flat on four pieces of timber approximately 10cm off the ground, and the timber     must support the first door equally on all four corners. Thereafter, the balance of the doors can be     stacked on top of the first one.

9. All wood products will be subject to shrinking, swelling or warping when exposed to dramatic     changes in temperature, humidity or dryness. Carpenters must take these changes into consideration     when hanging doors, or making clearance allowances.

10. All doors must be sealed immediately after sanding or resizing on all six sides with a minimum of     three coats of sealer before being hung in door frames.

  EXCLUSION FROM THIS GUARANTEE
 

11. Any buy-out products distributed by Discount Wooden Windows will be excluded from our 10 year         guarantee, but will be subject to the individual supplier’s guarantee. An invoice confirming a buy-         out item from another supplier will be sufficient proof to exclude the item from our guarantee.

12. The appearance of the product is not covered by this guarantee.

13. Natural Colour variations are not classified as defects.

14. Surface checking, shrinking or cupping.

15. Any deterioration caused by failure to protect or seal all exposed surfaces and edges.

16. The improper transporting or incorrect storing of the product.

17. Warp shall not be considered a defect unless it exceeds 6mm in the plain of the door itself.

18. Warp is any distortion in the door itself and does not refer to the relation of the door to the frame in         which it was hung. The term warp includes bow, cup and twist.

19. To measure the amount of the warp present in a door the following method should be adopted. By         placing a straight edge, taut line or string on the suspected concave face of the door at any angle.

        The measurement of the bow, cup and twist shall be made at the maximum point distance between         the bottom of the straight edge, taut line or string and the face of the door.
